Say it ain't so, Floyd, part whatever

So...Floyd Landis is appealing the guilty verdict. I really wish somebody could tell me why, I really do. Not that I don't appreciate his trying to prove himself not guilty, if indeed he is...but come on. You know they're going to find him guilty, you know it. No matter how good a case he puts on...hell, if he could provide photograpic evidence of that french lab doctoring up his samples, he'd still be found guilty; that's just the way it is. The USADA picked the arbitors the first time, WADA is going to pick them this time, and they aren't going to lose. That simple.

Just in case anyone doesn't realize this, yes, Floyd got to pick an arbitrator for the panel, but that came from a list that was approved by the USADA, so in effect, the USADA (and soon WADA) really did pick the arbitrators. Or at least, they stacked the deck.

Completely unfair, this process is. Completely unfair.

Save your money, Floyd. You don't want to end up working at McDonalds.

And now, for a little relief from that depressing news, a little Massimo:

Few people seem to remember or appreciate that Floyd raced for years on a hip that at times hurt so much that he could barely walk. He'll endure a lot if he thinks that he can win. But if the arbitrators that finally get chosen for the CAS thing are all lame he can just not appear and at least save some expense.

One of the best things that I ever read about Floyd was that when he was riding with Lance and there were a bunch of US guys following Lance for the whole (2003?) tour carrying an inflatable dolphin - the guys were allowed in to the victory party. They gave the dolphin to Floyd, not to Lance, because Floyd was the most real and accessible cyclist on the team.
